Alison Rose Reed is associate professor of English at Old Dominion University. Her book, Love and Abolition: The Social Life of Black Queer Performance, is forthcoming from the Ohio State University Press. In California, she organized against prison-expansion projects and, in Virginia, she cofounded Humanities Behind Bars, an abolitionist network of radical group-based study and mutual aid.
