Anne Anlin Cheng is a professor of English and African American studies at Princeton University. She is the author of The Melancholy of Race: Psychoanalysis, Assimilation, and Hidden Grief (Oxford University Press, 2000) and Second Skin: Josephine Baker and the Modern Surface (Oxford University Press, 2011).
