Beth Linker is an associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania in the Department of the History and Sociology of Science. Her book, War’s Waste: Rehabilitation in World War I America (2011), explains how rehabilitative medicine emerged as a political solution to the economic and human devastation wrought by modern warfare.
