Bettyann Holtzmann Kevles is a senior lecturer emerita in the Department of History at Yale University. Her books include Females of the Species: Sex and Survival in the Animal Kingdom (1986), Naked to the Bone: Medical Imaging in the Twentieth Century (1997), and Almost Heaven: The Story of Women in Space (2003).
