Carolyn A. Day is an associate professor at Furman University, where she teaches British history and the history of medicine. Her research focuses on the social space occupied by tuberculosis (consumption) and the relationship among fashionable women’s clothing, beauty, and illness in Britain. She is the author of Consumptive Chic: A History of Beauty, Fashion, and Disease (2017).
