Colin Dayan, Robert Penn Warren Professor in the Humanities, Professor of English, Vanderbilt, is the author of Fables of Mind: An Inquiry into Poe’s Fiction; Haiti, History, and the Gods; The Story of Cruel and Unusual; and, most recently, The Law Is a White Dog: How Legal Rituals Make and Unmake Persons, selected as a top-25 Outstanding Academic Book of 2011 and issued in paperback in March 2013.
