Emily Wells teaches writing at UC Irvine. She is the author of a memoir, A Matter of Appearance (Seven Stories Press, 2023), which binds the author’s account of autoimmune disease to 19th-century French hysteria and discursive histories of ballet and illness. She lives in Los Angeles.
