James P. Stanley is a media scholar and theater artist and a founder of the National Theater of the United States of America, with whom he works a as a writer, director, designer, and performer. In addition to the NTUSA, James has performed in works by Young Jean Lee, Richard Maxwell, Thomas Bradshaw, Hal Hartley, Julie Atlas Muz, Phil Soltanoff, Joanna Settle, and many others. James received his PhD from New York University and is on the faculty at Harvard University in History and Literature and in Theater, Dance and Media. (Author portrait by by Jesse Hawley)
