Sissela Bok, a writer and philosopher, is a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies. She is the author of many books, including Lying: Moral Choice in Private and Public Life (1978, 1989, 1999), Secrets: On the Ethics of Concealment and Revelation (1982, 1989), Mayhem: Violence as Public Entertainment (1998), and Exploring Happiness: From Aristotle to Brain Science (2010).
