Sudhir Venkatesh is William B. Ransford Professor of Sociology and the Committee on Global Thought, Columbia University. From 2009-2011, he was Senior Research Advisor to the Office of the Director, FBI. He was a Junior Fellow at the Society of Fellows, Harvard University, and an NSF CAREER award recipient in 2000.
