Yoshitaka Lawrence Shimoji is a sociologist who received his doctorate from Hitotsubashi University. He is the author of Konketsu to Nihonjin: Hāfu, daburu, mikkusu no shakaishi [Mixed Blood and Japanese: A Social History of “Halfs,” “Doubles,” and “Mixes”], and jointly runs the website Hafu Talk for people with mixed parentage and those with roots overseas.
