In this conversation, Public Books section editor Bécquer Seguín will talk with Jack Hamilton about different modes of writing for the public, learning to write scholarship for a broad audience, and how to balance academic and journalistic roles.

 

Jack Hamilton is a professor of American Studies and Media Studies at the University of Virginia and the pop critic for Slate magazine. His first book, Just Around Midnight: Rock and Roll and the Racial Imagination, was published by Harvard University Press in 2016.
